In today’s world, online visibility is vital and can make the difference between a successful business launch or a spectacular failure. However this is not true for all businesses. Some businesses, particularly in the main high streets, have very little need for an online presence.
A project such as Borderless though, we need folks like you to spread the word so that we can, together, reach the far corners of the world. With your help and support, Borderless will see the light of day.
This is the story of our journey, written in our tone and style. AI has been nowhere near this text. We firmly believe writing from the heart…and you have been warned, no BS!
A few years’ ago, back in 2015, we created our first business. A small town speciality coffee shop and roastery. The business flourished, far surpassing our expected turnover within the first two years. We are not afraid of hard work and the first year in particular, we were both working around 70 hours a week. Year three saw the arrival of our beautiful baby girl, Abigail. The business was doing quite well and we had a team of five employees supporting us.
But rapid growth and doubling the turnover doesn’t guarantee success. Our beloved coffee shop, which we had poured our hearts and souls into, lasted four years. Losing the coffee shop, especially due to forces outside of our control, was very turbulent.
We lost a little piece of ourselves along the way.
In hindsight, being brutally honest we could have probably saved the coffee shop. But we were no longer united in our decision to keep going. We had tough decisions to make and a toddler in the mix. Seven years later, we still talk about the coffee shop a lot. We learned a lot from the experience and the mistakes we made along the way.
Sailing is primarily what kept Leigh going through the period of mourning, for that it is what it was. Visiting boat shows, dreaming of a different way of life. A different quality of life with a very different pace. The chains we felt we had around our necks lifted, and a refreshing breeze…
Hang on, this is not the way this is supposed to go. This isn’t a novel, after all! And you’ll get bored of reading if we just ramble on. So here it is, in a nut shell…
Why Borderless Marine?
The feeling of freedom, and finding a boat that suits us as individuals and as a family unit. There’s a lot of choice on the market. Technology is advancing every day, especially with AI now in the mix.
As older parents, our only child’s safety is very high up on the wish list. We’re fussy – Sarah wants a separate shower, Leigh wants the latest tech as FOMO kicks in, alongside the coolest looking yacht in the marina!
We only get one shot at life, right?
Most of all, we worry about being out on the ocean and the worst happens, if we are injured or unable to get us safely back to shore. What would Abigail do? Could she sail the boat back to shore? Call for help on the radio? Orca attacks are becoming increasingly common, and Leigh firmly believes that at some point in the not too distant future, they will sink a boat and get the taste of human flesh. Yachts then become more than just a game – “let’s open that boat up and see what’s inside”.
This is the sole reason for the brief on the homepage. The sole reason for Borderless Marine’s existence today: a yacht that even an 8-year old can get safely back to shore.
To follow our journey and spread the word, we would be eternally grateful if you could share this website and our story.
Thank you for reading! x
